Human Plasminogen

by Mute State

/

about

This release is a methodical and precise musical representation of the sequence of amino acids in the protein Human Plasminogen.

Each of the 20 common amino acids is carefully translated into a unique "amino" chord. The notes in each chord are determined by summing the possible genetic codes (codons) for each amino acid.

The amino acid chords are then divided into four categories Electrically charged, Polar, Hydrophobic, and Special, expressed by four different timbres in the music.

The mass and weight of each amino acid is carefully converted into duration and loudness. When played in the correct sequence, a chain of 810 amino acid chords results in a musical sequence depicting the full structure of the protein human plasminogen.
